DC Laws Only (For those that hava a DC approved shooting qualification waiver)

For Applicants with an MPD-Approved 16-Hour Training Waiver

This course is designed for active-duty military personnel, veterans, and other qualifying individuals who have received a 16-hour training waiver from the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).

Participants will learn the essential D.C. firearm laws, concealed carry regulations, and legal responsibilities necessary to carry a firearm safely and lawfully in Washington, D.C.

Course Objectives

• D.C. Firearm Laws: Possession, registration, and legal requirements.

• Transportation and Storage: Laws governing firearm transportation and secure storage.

• D.C. CPL Application: Application process and requirements.

• Concealed Carry: Laws and responsibilities of permit holders.

• Prohibited Places: Where firearms cannot legally be carried.

• Self-Defense Laws: Legal use of force and deadly force.

Important: This is a laws-only course for applicants with an applicable MPD-approved training waiver. It does not include firearms qualification or the standard 16-hour training. Applicants should confirm their remaining requirements with MPD.
